Laura started practicing Pilates to address long-term postural issues. She had previously tried other activities, but found that Pilates was the only workout that ‘stayed’ with her: she did not just feel well at the end of the class, but also for the rest of the week.

After qualifying as a teacher, Laura founded Equilibrium Studio, with the mission to enable everyone to feel good in their own bodies. Equilibrium Studio’s philosophy is that Pilates is key to foster a deep connection between body and mind. The awareness and focus unique to the Pilates practice lead to an intense and satisfying workout, which leaves people feeling stronger and free from pain. While Equilibrium Studio embraces the principles Joseph Pilates advocated, it also keeps up to date with the latest findings in the science of movement, marrying tradition and research.

Laura loves to deepen her understanding of how bodies work and she holds specialist qualifications in cancer exercise, bone health, arthritis, osteoporosis, pre/postnatal and post-rehab protocols. Her qualifications are from Body Harmonics and the Cancer Exercise Training Institute. Laura also has a PhD from the University of St Andrews.

“When I practice Pilates, I am fully absorbed. I feel inside my body and mind in a way that no other activity allows me to experience. I emerge from Pilates practice feeling a deeper sense of connection, which I hope my clients experience as well.”
